Food for Thought
Those of us, of the older generation who remember some 'hungry' years
post war might like to be reminded of the weekly food ration per person
in December 1947 as published in Austerity Britain 1945-1956.
1 oz of bacon

3lbs of potatoes
2oz of butter

3 oz of margarine

1 oz of cooking fat
2oz of cheese

1 shillings worth (5p) of meat
½ lb of bread per day was allowed

1lb of jam or marmalade per month

unlimited green vegetables (that's OK if you had an allotment)
Perhaps a diet of this fashion could go some way to curbing the obesity
issues of today !!
