clubruns in Richmond Park, however when available up to 16 members were
turning out.
Decision was taken to award a glass tumbler, suitably engraved with
club badge and members name to individuals who had completed 50 years
membership. Tumblers were presented to Monty Watkins in Australia and
John Darroch in Thailand. Kav received a Gold Badge of Honour.

10 names had been submitted for the 8 sponsorship frames available,
one retracted his request as he was receiving a bike as a Christmas present.
Club container at Herne Hill broken into, nothing appeared to be missing
but lock needed replacement. Herne Hill grandstand was condemned and
agreement could not be reached between Southwark Council and The Dulwich
Estate regarding the overall lease, track closed for training and racing
initially but was restored later when a further 3 year lease was agreed.
At the local BCF AGM concerns were raised of the possible loss of Eastway
making way for the forthcoming Olympic Park and also the loss of the
Crystal Palace circuit for redevelopment purposes.

Our riders continued to reap success in the downhill/cross-country kami
karzy events amply reported on by Howard Coulson. Cliff Steele completed
the London Triathlon on 9 months hard training. Headliners in time trials
were Brian Dacey, Dave Haggart, James Lett, Roy Savery, Nick Butler.
Eastway and Crystal Palace saw Sam Fensterheim in action. Sam also
took the Johnson Trophy for fastest Junior in the Open 25 for the second
time. Ross Fryer, James Lyon and Peckham plus Cliff Steele were competing
in off road endurance races Mike Peel completed his 25th London Marathon.
The flying chef won the down hill comp, with Howard Coulson second, Henry
& Charlotte Carter Smith tried their hand at downhilling but were hampered
by lack of weight. Roy Savery took the Vets BAR from Alan Priddy. No
riders rode the SERRL RR but we had 20 helpers/marshals (for which we
were highly commended). Roller racing was dropped from the Belgium Night
to increase the accommodation for additional diners.
