launched his new own cycle clothing company, ‘Hommage au Vélo’. David rode
with us as a youth in the mid 1990s, mostly on a mountain bike, before
heading off to race in France on the road for four seasons with help from the
Dave Rayner Fund. He is a thoroughly nice man who has pledged to give 10%
of all his profits to World Bicycle Relief.
This is a charity that helps people in developing countries to have better
future education and health outcomes by supplying bicycles that help them
overcome the challenge of distance, whether that's enabling them to cycle
to school, or for health workers to reach patients.
We wish him well, this is a really good quality clothing brand that deserves
to be successful.
Three neighbours from Barming near Maidstone have also been doing the Club
proud. Young Johnny Kavanagh has been towing a large group of riders around
the lanes near Calais on the Annual French Club Run a couple of weeks ago.
Looks like a busy day out there. And a very fast day out at the Fred Peachey
25 on Sunday 20 th – a winning time of 52.29 by Nic Fennell with Andy Meilak
not far behind in 54.14. Tony and Val Peachey running the event again for its
49 th edition, a great feat of endurance, with lots of club members out in
support.

for Herne Hill Youth CC’s annual trip to Wales, which starts this Saturday.
These days I don’t set my sights very high – my target was just to last for
four days, keeping up with the 11-year-olds and hopefully keeping my knees
intact.
I started riding to work again in early April, and gradually started building
my mileage. Got up to 60km a couple of weeks ago, then put my back out.
It’s loosened up again now, but I’m trusting to luck that I’ll get round ok. Yes
I know I’ve only got myself to blame.
