Just as Val reached the back of the motor bike Terry started to pull away –
it was only a hefty shout that alerted him to Val's presence. The things
we do for the club !!!!
The all important cakes and spoon ladies of Lyn Adams, Pat Connor and Terri
Shotten And last but not least Val who stepped in, on the day, as assistant
finish timekeeper (time runner !!).
One DNS not listed on the result sheet was Kav. He was scheduled to
marshal at Canterbury but had a dreadful night's sleep on the Saturday and
subsequently overslept on Sunday morning. He did apologise stating that
this is the first time in 50 years that he has let the club down. Not to
worry Kav, we can probably get you to do a double shift next year.
Breakfast was taken at our usual haunt in the cafe in Lenham village square
where Kav made a guest appearance.
Lots of thanks from riders already received which is always nice, hopefully we
will have a few more of our own next year. The unconventional prize
distribution was widely appreciated by the riders with more individuals taking
awards further down the list.
The overall scratch winner taking the Fred Peachey Memorial Trophy - Nic
Fennell Thanet RC with 52.29 this is the brother of last years winner.
The fastest Junior rider was Fabien Large Direct Power Cycling Team with
59.49. The second time this individual has taken the trophy home.
Thanks again to the willing helpers – very much appreciated.
