Rather a quiet time at the moment with no club committee meeting since January except the AGM in March. Next committee meeting is scheduled for 12th June in our new meeting venue of Streatham & Marlborough Cricket Club - a contact made by Tony that seems to fit all our needs. Our first meeting was on 14th April and I understand everyone was suitably impressed with its location (opposite the old Grove Tavern, Lordship Lane). Unfortunately Tony & I could not attend having had a previous commitment, we are given to understand that the beer is cheaper than that in local hostelries so a win/win for all. Having looked back through the club's history this is not the first time we have joined forces with a Cricket Club - we had a similar arrangement in 1930 with the Malvern Cricket Club. Subs and donations continue to come into David and myself on a regular basis, in fact I believe almost every member has been encouraged to part with money. I will be taking funds from the Memorial Fund Interest pot this year to offset commitments made at the AGM of £5,000 to Herne Hill Velodrome Trust to help fund some restorative work to the perimeter grounds of the track. This is in addition to the £1,000 set aside for Herne Hill on an annual basis for 5 years - this will be our 3rd year in the sequence. There is also a spend on new racing strip of just over £5,000, to cover and an approximate spend of £2,000 for coaching led club runs. There are plans afoot to substantially increase the prizes on offer in the 10 and 25 time trials together with a free gift for every entrant to these events. In this 125th Anniversary year for the club there may be more - so watch this space. All the changes to official personnel within club can now be found on the website, kindly updated by Mike Peel. You will notice however that we do need a new Tony offered his services in 2013 but only for one year - if you feel you can undertake the role please come forward and make yourself known to any of the committee listed. There is a general outline of the duties elsewhere in this DLN. I have not yet submitted the our claim to HMIC to recoup just a little more income from our donations, awaiting some paperwork from a couple of members to ensure I have all the official documentation before making our claim.
