CORSICA



       Could this be the ultimate format for a multi-day sportive? In a South London
       alliance, myself and fellow De Laune rider, Christian Rudolf, joined friends from
       Dulwich CC, Chris Bedson and Patrick Hawkins (also De Laune 2nd claim), to
       ride a four-day sportif in sunny Corsica.

       Organised by Tour de France masterminds ASO, this was a mountainous
       challenge covering 269 miles of breathtaking scenery in perfect weather. The
       route was made up of various timed segments which were added together
       to create classifications for the yellow, green and polka dot jerseys. There
       were also classifications by age group.

       But thrown into the mix were plenty of untimed in-between sections which
       meant you could ease off on the gas and look up and admire the view, guilt
       free, before hammering it again in the timed segments. A genius format.
       However, Christian didn't do much easing off and ended up going though-and-
       off with a surprisingly social and relaxed Cadel Evans. Frank Schleck was also
